Victor Wanyama could play until he was 40 years old and he would not hit another one like he did against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Eyebrows were raised when the defensive midfielder was introduced in the second half of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield.
Wanyama entered at 1-0 to the home side, but Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino obviously knew something that the rest of us did not as the Kenyan levelled the scores with a quite stunning effort from outside the box.
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius had managed to clear the penalty box with a punch, but Wanyama proceeded to absolutely arrow the ball into the top corner of the net.
It was the midfielder’s first goal of the season, and it proved extremely important as Tottenham went on to secure a late point in the entertaining 2-2 draw.
Wanyama, who is valued at £27m by transfermarkt.co.uk, took to Twitter after the match to comment on the result, and the Spurs fans were on hand to lavish praise on the 26-year-old for the stunning hit.
