With the latest international break well underway, a number of Southampton players have travelled with their respective countries, such as Mohamed Elyounoussi, Jan Bednarek and Stuart Armstrong.

One Saints player who has made a big impact on international duty is Che Adams, who scored during Scotland’s 2-0 win against Moldova, which will surely leave Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl buzzing.

In addition to his goal, Adams had two other shots, which were off-target, and completed 100% of the dribbles he attempted, proving just how much of a nuisance he was for Moldova’s defenders on the night.

Furthermore, three of his 13 passes were key passes, showing that not only did he offer a goalscoring threat for Scotland, he was also useful in trying to set up his teammates to score.

The Saints striker, who is currently earning a weekly wage of £30k-per-week according to Spotrac, also managed to win four duels during his 85 minutes on the pitch, highlighting his strength and determination to win the ball back for his team.

This backs up what pundit and former Southampton manager Graeme Souness said about Adams before Scotland’s match against England in Euro 2020 over the summer, when he called the striker a “physical presence” for Steve Clarke’s side.

Ally McCoist was also full of praise for Adams at that point, calling him an “intelligent” player who can give Scotland “something different.”

Adams’ overall performance against Moldova earned him a decent overall match rating of 7.2/10 according to SofaScore. With 11 international appearances for Scotland under his belt, he now has four goals to his name.

Given how Adams scored his first Premier League goal of the season for Southampton in their 1-0 win over Watford last month and has now found the back of the net for Scotland, he has certainly proved that he is capable of being Southampton’s main attacking star alongside the likes of Adam Armstrong and Armando Broja, who have both found the back of the net in the league this season.

With their next Premier League clash against Norwich City at Carrow Road on the horizon once the international break comes to an end, Hasenhuttl will definitely have a tough decision to make over who he starts up front if all of his attacking options are fit.
