Brighton confirmed the signing of the USWNT forward earlier today on loan from the NWSL side. The 30-year-old has tons of experience under her belt, she has won the NWSL Championship twice, first with Western New York Flash in 2016 and then again with NJ/NY Gotham last November.

Brighton head coach Melissa Phillips told the club's media: "We are excited to welcome Taylor to Brighton as our latest January signing. Taylor is an experienced player with a competitors mindset and brings a wealth of experience from championship-winning teams in the NWSL. We are eager to help her settle in and see the value she will add to our team for the rest of the season as we aim to climb the table."

Smith's experience and playing level will be a major boost for the Seagulls as they currently languish down in tenth place in the Women's Super League. The 30-year-old saw her 2023 NWSL season cut off earlier than usual as she suffered an injury late in the campaign.
WHAT NEXT FOR SMITH?
It is possible that the forward could jump straight into action if Phillips thinks that she is up to speed with her side when they take on Manchester United on Sunday, February 4.
