Former striker Joselu has returned to the club on a season-long loan but has only scored five La Liga goals so far this season. Los Blancos do have the option to make the deal permanent but would surely much rather bring in a top talent such Mbappe or Haaland to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window.

Los Blancos are being made to wait for a decision on Mbappe. The striker is not expected to decide his future until next month. The Spanish giants have already tried to sign Haaland, missing out in 2022, but could try again particularly after seeing him fire City to the treble last season. Haaland is contracted to the Cityzens until 2027 and reportedly has a release clause that can be trigged by teams outside the Premier League in the summer.
