The 28-year-old still has two years left on his Madrid deal, having signed an extension in 2023. But with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric both gone, and Ceballos still not featuring heavily, the writing appears to be on the wall. Los Blancos' midfield already includes rising stars like Arda Guler, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, who are all ahead of Ceballos in Alonso’s rotation. Despite squad depth needs, Madrid might cash in if Betis can present a viable offer.
WHAT CEBALLOS SAID?
Speaking to the media in Seville, the midfielder said: "I'm already on vacation after a long season. Everything's fine. It's an important topic for me, but we'll talk about my future in a few weeks. Betis was my home and always will be."
He added: "I hope the door is always open. I haven't spoken to them yet. Well, we're open to everything."
