Mbeumo's form this past season didn't go unnoticed, scoring 20 Premier League goals as a wide forward – only Mohamed Salah (28), Alexander Isak (23) and Erling Haaland (22) got more during the campaign. As such, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, all of whom are in the 2025-26 Champions League, had shown interest. But even though United cannot offer European football at all until at least 2026-27, they are seemingly Mbeumo's preference if the clubs can reach a compromise.
DID YOU KNOW?
Mbeumo is an example of a late bloomer, having made only four top flight league appearances – all for Troyes in Ligue 1 – prior to Brentford's promotion to the Premier League in 2021. He was 22 at the start of the 2021-22 campaign and has improved year on year.
GOALWHAT NEXT FOR BRYAN MBEUMO?
Mbeumo will have to hope that United, whose spending power and budget will be lower than usual without revenue from European football for at least a year, can put togther a package acceptable to Brentford. He is about to enter the final year of his current contract. Even though there is an option for the Bees to extend it by another 12 months, the risk of his value starting to fall if they don't cash in this summer could be a factor. But Brentford boss Thomas Frank has insisted any deal must be for a "nice, nice amount".
