England fans react to latest team update
Gallagher set to start against Slovenia
Supporters rage over minimal changeWHAT HAPPENED?
Ahead of the Slovenia game, the reported that "wholesale changes are unlikely" for England and Conor Gallagher for Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield could be the sole change that Southgate is expected to make for this one. Supporters on social media already frustrated rounded on the manager, calling for players like Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer to be utilised differently.

On X, Jamie said, "Feels like Southgate is trolling the nation now. Too stubborn. Too loyal. No tactics. How the hell has he made this England team so bad. I f*cking hate the man."
"Southgate is totally clueless," said self-confessed LFC enthusiast Abdullah_mohamed. "Why use Foden when you have a traditional winger like Gordon who is faster and offers more threat upfront than Foden. Also, he is totally misusing Trent as D.Rice said, Trent is effective and more productive in midfield three him playing RCM."
Marcus Brown offered: "No wonder Ben White doesn't want to play for Southgate, he's clueless just starts his favourites, starting Gallagher and not starting Gordon on the left is embarrassing especially after the way we played first two games, another sh*te England performance incoming tomorrow." In response to Cole Palmer being on the bench again, Jeffrey said: "That's absolutely baffling. So Southgate isn't listening at all?"

Southgate has persisted starting Alexander-Arnold in midfield in each of England's two games so far, but each time withdrew the Liverpool man in favour of Gallagher for more energy. But it hasn't been the only questionable move, with the tactics in use failing to unlock the best of Harry Kane and Foden in particular. Palmer and Gordon also haven't even had a look in at all, despite their Premier League form at club level in 2023-24.

It will be up to Southgate and 10 of the same players who started against Denmark to pick it up as England take on Slovenia. Qualification for the last 16 is not really in doubt, but anything other than topping the group and heading into the last 16 as a seed would be a disappointment for the Three Lions. reported that the England camp "feel that they have identified the problems and they're going to put them right against Slovenia."
